Twitter's push into live video of major events continued on Monday with the an**uncement that it would stream the upcoming Democratic and Republican national conventions.

CBS, which owned the streaming rights, agreed to a deal that will let Twitter stream the conventions online, according to Recode and CNN Money.*

Twitter has been making a concerted effort to embrace live events on its platform, with its recent coverage of the Wimbledon tennis tournament providing an early look at how the company might combine streaming video with tweets.
