Fake cheques to farmers

10 cases against sugar mill admin

TOBA TEK SINGH: Kamalia police on Thursday registered 10 cases against a sugar mill administration on a charge of issuing fake cheques to sugarcane growers.

The affected farmers Rehmat, Mumtaz, Zafar, Iqbal, Hanif, Ijaz, Umer Draz, Arif and Shah Nawaz reported to police that they repeatedly contacted banks for payment against cheques but they were told that there was ** amount the mill accounts.

LAWYERS STRIKE: The District Bar Association on Thursday observed strike to protest registration of cases against lawyers and alleged misbehaviour of DPO Rana Shahzad Akbar with some lawyers. The lawyers also boycotted the courts to register their protest.
