Miss Teen USA is ditching the swimsuits for athletic gear

Miss Teen USA is ditching the swimsuits.

The pageant, a sister show to Miss Universe and Miss USA for 15-19 year olds that's been running since 1983, is dropping the skimpy outfits in favor of athletic wear, according to USA Today.

The move aims to*"celebrate women’s strength, confidence and beauty," according to a memo to state directors of the pageant from*Miss Universe president Paula Shugart.
