This hurricane season, the Weather Channel intends to virtually flood its studio in order to encourage people in harms' way to evacuate from an approaching hurricane. The product, k**wn as "SurgeFX," is the latest development in the network's push into the use of augmented reality to show, rather than simply tell, viewers about dangerous weather. *

Last year, the Weather Channel first unveiled its augmented reality capabilities, including a startlingly realistic tornado simulation in the studio.
