161 buildings constructed against approved maps
 

LAHORE

As many as 161 commercial buildings on various main roads of the city have been constructed without approval of high level design committee or against the approved map.

This was revealed in the monthly meeting of High Level Design Committee held Monday.

The meeting was chaired by DCO who expressed dissatisfaction over the situation.

The DCO directed EDO Finance to submit data of 161 buildings to the DCO before the next meeting of the committee.

The buildings identified in the meeting were constructed in the areas of Allama Iqbal Town, Wahgah Town, Gulberg Town, Data Town and Shalimar Town. The next meeting of the High Level Design Committee will commence on Friday and DCO said that final decision about the fate of these buildings will be taken in the meeting.

skilled workers: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has claimed that Tevta has provided employment opportunity to 14,000 trained youth in re**wned national and multi-national organisations across Punjab.

Addressing a meeting to review the progress of placement cell here on Monday, he said 100,000 skilled individuals would be sent to Middle East in next three years different phases.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said 20 placement ******rs had already been appointed in each Tevta district in this regard who had been directed to frequently visit industries of their concerned areas to categorise the availability of jobs.

A one window operation for obtaining passport, medical check-up, deposit of protector fee, Nadra card and travel arrangements were being managed in the placement cell, he added.

UVAS: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Bahawalpur will have three faculties including Bio-Sciences, Veterinary Sciences and Animal Production & Tech**logy besides 18 departments and an institute of continuing education and extension.

According to a press release this was said by UVAS Bahawalpur Project Director Dr Rizwan Yousaf while giving a presentation to the steering committee on the project at the UVAS Lahore on Monday.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (focal person of UVAS Bahawalpur) and other officials attended the meeting. Dr Rizwan Yousaf briefed the committee on the development work and said the university would also have teaching and research centers on dairy cattle, beef animals, sheep and goats, camels, poultry, pet and wildlife, a central disease diag**stic laboratory, 16 departmental laboratories, a veterinary teaching hospital, pet and wild animal hospital and computer labs along with library, student teacher center, seminar rooms, auditorium, sports complex and staff and students residential facilities.

The project is being executed by the UVAS Lahore in collaboration with two Turkish universities, “Selcuk University” and “Ankara University” and funded by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab.

PhD sy**pses: Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) Monday approved 15 PhD sy**pses, 8 evaluation reports and 4 panels of examiners.

The AS&RB meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran also approved 2 extension cases and 2 miscellaneous cases. Prof Dr Muhammad Fakhar-ul-Haq **ori, Prof Dr Tahira Basharat, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Prof Dr Khalid Hussain, Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, acting Chairperson DPCC Prof Dr Anjum Nasim Sabri, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Shahid Munir and Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the PU has awarded PhD degree to Muhammad Asif Naveed, son of Muhammad Ramzan, in the subject of Library & Information Science after approval of his thesis.
