Mepco team attacked, made hostage

PAKPATTAN: As many as 41 people attacked and took a Mepco team hostage at Chak 8/SP.

On a tip-off, the Mepco employees raided the village and cut power connection of Mohsin on a charge of stealing electricity. In the meantime, 41 people, including Mohsin, allegedly attacked the Mepco officials and took them hostage. The accused also locked them in a room and snatched mobile phones from them. Police have registered a case under Sections 186, 342, 506-B, 427 and 148 of the PPC.

BIKER DIES: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident here. Muhammad Shahzad of Chak 15/EB was returning to the village when a car hit his motorcycle at Dhakar Niaz Baig. As a result, he died on the spot.

SHOPKEEPER BOOKED: Police booked a shopkeeper for overcharging here. On a tip-off, the special magistrate raided the shop of Farid at Chak 165/EB and found him selling daily-use items at exorbitant prices.
