CBFC orders 100 cuts from Indian film before release in Pakistan
LAHORE: The Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), has allowed the Indian film “Udta Punjab” to be released in Pakistan after removing the objectionable content.
The CBFC has ordered as many as 100 cuts from the controversial drug-themed movie for its release in the country. The board has suggested the filmmakers to remove any "objectionable and anti-Pakistan" content from the film. The movie, starring top Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt along with Punjabi film star Diljit Dosanjh, is a crime drama based on drug mafia. "All 10-members of the CBFC have unanimously allowed 'Udta Punjab' to be released after editing objectionable content," Mubashir Hasan, the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) head, told an Indian news agency. Mr Hasan said almost every dialogue had offensive words so they asked for major cuts in the Punjab-set drug drama. "We have cut all derogatory and offensive words/dialogues and anti-Pakistan content from the film. More than 100 cuts, mutes, beeps have been suggested to the film's distributor. Once he will complete the editing as per the requirement of the board, it will again be presented before the board for final approval," Mr Hasan said. The producers of the film were also in trouble with the Indian censor board which demanded 89 cuts from the movie, directed by Abhishek Chaubey. However, the producers moved to the Bombay High Court against the board to get their film cleared for its scheduled release on June 17. They also gathered support from Bollywood. The court passed the movie with just one cut and a revised disclaimer. The film's distributor is likely get the content edited in Dubai in a day or two before presenting it again to the CBFC for final approval. The distributor said that "Udta Punjab” is likely to be screened across Pakistan this weekend. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/YEor/~4/PjLUp1xxRiM أكثر... |
