U.S. wants to incentivize Myanmar to pursue reforms
 

WASHINGTON: The United States wants to further incentivize the people and government of Myanmar to pursue democratic reforms and will be strongly supportive of the country as it does so, the White House said on Tuesday.

"The government has made important progress. We want them to build on that momentum, and that´s why the recalibrated sanctions an**uncement will move forward," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at a daily briefing.

The comments come after the United States eased some sanctions on Myanmar earlier on Tuesday to support political reforms and eco**mic growth in the country but retained other measures to discourage human rights abuses and military trade
with **rth Korea.
