3 of a family electrocuted

BISHAM: Three members of a family including an eight-year-old boy, his mother and uncle, were electrocuted in Shakara village in Shangla district on Thursday.Police said eight-year-old Qismat Ali was electrocuted after he touched an electricity wire. His mother and uncle Muhammad Ayub tried to rescue the kid but both suffered electric shock.They were shifted to the hospital where the doctors pro**unced them dead.



500 displaced families of Orakzai return hometowns

HANUG: As many as 500 more displaced families were sent back on Thursday to their hometowns in upper parts of Orakzai Agency as the return process continued for the sixth consecutive day that commenced on April 30.Speaking to reporters, Tehsildar Imtiaz Khan said that 500 displaced families returned to their native villages in Ismailzai tehsil of Orakzai Agency. They were sent amid tight security to avoid any untoward incident during the journey, he added. The official said that food and medication were provided to the displaced people on all ration points set up by the government for facilitation.

PESHAWAR: An independent candidate for the constituency PK-8 by-poll Yousaf Khalil on Thursday an**unced to withdraw his **mination papers in favour of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate.Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Yousaf Khalil said that he was the founding member of the PTI and he had filed **mination papers as an independent candidate after he was denied ticket for the provincial seat. “**w I have been persuaded by senior leaders to re-join the party and withdraw the papers in support of the party candidate Shahzad Khan,” he added.PTI MPA Arbab Jehandad Khan, candidate Shahzad Khan, Jehanzeb Lala and dozens of party activists were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Arbab Jehandad Khan claimed that the PTI candidate would win the by-election by a big margin.

Four killed in DI Khan firing incidents

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified gunmen on Thursday shot dead four persons in separate firing incidents in the district, police officials said.They said that unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle shot dead Mukhtiar Hussain in Ijazabad area. They said the accused also opened fire on Akhtar Hussain who was standing nearby, leaving him critically wounded. They said the injured was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was a teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School Dhaki. They said the second incident occurred on Grid Road where unidentified gunmen opened fire on two motorcyclists, killing them both on the spot.
