Tribesmen protest hours long power cuts in Bajaur Agency
 

KHAR: The residents of various areas in Bajaur Agency on Friday took out protest rally against the ongoing hours-long power outages. Led by tribal elders including Said Ahmad Jan, Saeedur Rehman, Mufti Hanifullah and others, the protesters blocked the Khar-Munda Highway for hours.Carrying banners and placards, the angry residents chanted slogans against the Tribal Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) for carrying out prolonged loadshedding.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that carrying out 23 hours-long power cuts in the region was an injustice with the militancy-hit people, adding, various areas were facing acute water shortage. “There is ** water in the mosques and people are forced to bring water from far-flung areas,” Said Ahmad said, adding that prolonged loadshedding had affected businesses of the people. They asked the Tesco officials and the government to reduce the duration of the power cuts or else they would launch a protest campaign. The protesters dispersed peacefully after being assured by the officials of the political administration to resolve the issue.
