Nawaz takes **te of hike in pulses prices
ISLAMABAD: Taking serious **tice of price escalation of pulses, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has shown strong displeasure about it. He has directed utility store administration to withdraw the **tification of price escalation immediately.
Nawaz has asked the administration of the utility stores **t to increase price of any essential commodity without his prior approval. According to sources in the PM House the displeasure of the prime minister has been conveyed to the utility stores authorities. The sources said that the federal government is contemplating to set up system for effective checking of the prices of essential items other tan the utility stores besides existing arrangement. The system would be put in place shortly in the wake of upcoming budget for the next fiscal years and holy month of Ramazan. The government is determined to stall any artificial dearness before the budget, the sources added. Israr Khan adds: Earlier the Utility Stores Corporation had increased the pulses' prices up to 40 rupees a kilogram a month ahead of Ramazan, but within a few hours after media widely ran the news the government had to withdraw the decision.
