Established in 1845 by the final Congress of the Republic of Texas, Baylor University in Waco is the state’s oldest continually operating university

These images, taken around the turn of the 20th century, reveal the interiors of the men’s dormitories at Ertha Lee Cowden Hall and the women’s dormitories at Georgia Burleson Hall.

The walls are festooned by the students with a litany of decorations, from advertisements and pennant flags to photos of family and sweethearts.*
