The stars of Stars Hollow have finally aligned: Melissa McCarthy will officially be part of Netflix's Gilmore Girlsreboot. McCarthy's character Sookie, best friend and colleague of Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), was always a fan favorite, but her return is hugely significant because of her massive movie success over the past several years.

The news of McCarthy's return to Gilmore universe delighted fans and costars, proving the salience of the show and of Sookie as a character.*
