Train accident in Singapore kills 2 maintenance staff

The men were reportedly new employees, having started with SMRT's technical team in January, and were undergoing training when they were hit by an oncoming train at about 11:10 a.m. near the Pasir Ris MRT station. They've been identified as Nasrulhudin Najumudin, 26, and Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari, 24. Both were pro**unced dead at the scene by paramedics. SMRT issued a statement saying its records show that the two were part of a team that went down to the track to investigate an alarm triggered by some signalling equipment. They had been authorised to access the track, and were walking one behind a**ther on the walkway to access the site of the alarm. Read more...
