Woman paints her torso to send a powerful message about body image

Artist Jody Steel uses the human body as a canvas to create beautiful works of art that often have a poignant message.

Her latest video, a timelapse entitled "Body Image," touches on the topic of eating disorders and body dysmorphia.*In the video, Steel paints her body to look as if her waistline has been wrung out like a rag, pointing at the many unhealthy things people do to feel beautiful.

"There have been times I've look[ed] in a mirror and wished for a perfect figure,"*Steel wrote on Facebook.*"** matter how much I went to the gym or how little I ate carbs and sugar, I still didn't see what I imagined was perfect.*Once I realized that naturally, I don't have a coke bottle figure, or long and thin legs, I began to let go of the pressures I've felt to fulfill an image that our society has deemed the pinnacle of beauty."
