New Species of Bacteria Eats Plastic
 

Bacteria can gobble up oil spills, radioactive waste and, **w, plastic. Researchers in Japan said they have discovered a species of microbe that eats PET, the polymer widely used in food containers, bottles and synthetic fibers.
