Emirates has **w completed the new world's longest flight, **nstop from Auckland to Dubai.

The flight was projected to take 17 hours and 15 minutes and cover 8,819 miles, making it the longest flight in the world.*However the flight was shorter than expected: The final flight time was 16 hours and 24 minutes.

Flight conditions will vary the actual length of the route.


The airline posted a video earlier Wednesday of the landing of the first leg of the service, from Dubai to Auckland. Just after the video was posted, the flight in the opposite direction — from Auckland to Dubai — took off. Read more...
