LOS ANGELES — What little difference a few years makes in Hollywood.

Back in 2012, at a moment when it seemed the topic of diversity in Hollywood couldn't boil any hotter, a group of reporters at the Los Angeles Times set out to discover just how mo**lithic the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences really was.

It's been four years — and a whole lot more heat — since that 2012 study, which unearthed a stunning statistic that's been cited and repeated in what must be hundreds, if **t thousands, of articles on the intractable crisis.
