The decision of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) at Mumbai University to introduce internal marks for select programmes seems to have backfired. IDOL has issued a circular asking contact centres to assess students for 20 marks on the basis of projects on extra reading, creating presentations, quizzes, online test. The discussion over these submissions, as recommended in the circular, could be done over phone or Internet.
