The device is used to open the biliary sphincter to gain further access for stone removal, papillary ste**sis treatment, and other procedures.

The device is designed to help prevent damage to the duodenal folds, thanks to a special coating over the proximal part of the wire that insulates it and sends energy to where the cauterization is being performed.
