Na**meter Imaging: A New Technique to Look Closely Inside Brain Tissue
A collaboration of American researchers has developed an imaging technique to look at the insides of brains at a much higher resolution than was possible before. The researchers have already used the tech**logy to study the mouse brain in detail, focusing on the region that processes what the whiskers are sensing, so as to see what kind of information the imaging technique can provide the investigators. The na**meter resolution that the new imaging technique is able to achieve involves a number of steps, including sectioning of the brain tissue, using a scanning electron microscope on it, and computer reconstruction of the data using special algorithms that can help recognize different objects of the brain. Here’s a demo video of a processed*mouse brain: More can be found in the tudy in Cell: Saturated Reconstruction of a Volume of Neocortex… The post Na**meter Imaging: A New Technique to Look Closely Inside Brain Tissue appeared first on Medgadget. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medgadget?d=yIl2AUoC8zA http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medgadget?d=qj6IDK7rITs http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medg...9g:gIN9vFwOqvQ http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Medgadget/~4/ERvrxOInlMk |
