Safari² Pre-Shaped Guidewire Helps Introduce Transcatheter Aortic Heart Valve Replacements

Boston Scientific just an**unced receiving U.S. and European regulatory approvals for its Safari² pre-shaped guidewire that’s used during implantations of cardiac devices, including transcatheter aortic valves, most prominently the company’s Lotus system. The firm promises excellent shape retention, and the device aims to help make guidance more predictable. Before the first generation Safari guidewire, physicians adapted peripheral intervention guidewires that they manually shaped to the patients’ anatomies to help introduce transcatheter heart valves.

The*Safari² comes in one of three curve sizes, with the smallest one enabling treatment of patients with particularly small ventricles.
