Mi**r Moves: Henry Blanco, Cody Scarpetta
We'll keep tabs on the day's mi**r moves right here ...
- Catcher Henry Blanco signed a mi**r league deal with the*Diamondbacks, tweets Matt Eddy of Baseball America. The 42-year-old spent 2011-12 in Arizona and then saw action with the Blue Jays and Mariners last season. Blanco has **t seen over 200 plate appearances since 2004, and offers little with the bat at this point. But with the backup job open after*Wil Nieves*left to join the Phillies, the*D-Backs*can use Blanco as a depth piece or let him challenge for an MLB roster spot.
- The*Brewers have released righty Cody Scarpetta, tweets*Eddy. As Eddy **tes, Scarpetta was twice ranked among the ten best prospects in the Milwaukee organization, and occupied a 40-man spot for three seasons. The 25-year-old*posted a 3.85 ERA in 117 innings at Double-A Huntsville in 2011 before missing the 2012 season to undergo Tommy John surgery. Scarpetta mustered only a 7.15 ERA in 34 innings at the High-A level last year, including an ugly 9.5 BB/9.
- As always, MLBTR's DFA Tracker*is your guide to players currently (or previously) facing DFA limbo. At the present, five players have been ******* from their clubs' 40-man rosters while they wait to learn their fate:*Eric Surkamp*of the*Giants,*Brett Marshall*of the*Yankees,*Trey Haley*of the*Indians,*Chance Ruffin*of the*Mariners,*and*Alex Castella**s*of the*Red Sox. A decision is due today on Castella**s, while the others could be forced to sweat things out over Christmas.
