Egypt considers Russian jets for its national airliner

The Russian-Egyptian Business Council’s delegation, currently visiting Egypt and headed by industry minister Denis Manturov, has offered Egypt the superjet, which is a joint Russian-Italian production, the source added. Russia's Ria **vosti news agency quoted Egypt’s Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal as saying Monday that Egypt was interested in purchasing the jet. “This is a modern aircraft with international tech**logies, it has all the respective certificates from the European Union. We are seriously considering purchasing planes of this class for the Egyptian national airline,” the minister told the agency. Though the minister told RIa **vosti it was too early to discuss the price for the 95-seat jet, the Aviation Ministry source set the price at US$36 million, adding that EgyptAir needs to back its fleet with eight jets to meet a rising demand for aviation services.
