Unchallenged Bashir set to extend rule as Sudan votes

With 15 little-k**wn candidates running against him, 71-year-old Bashir faces ** real competition in the second contested vote since he seized power in 1989. Sudanese will also vote for national and state lawmakers in the three-day election, with Bashir's ruling National Congress Party (NCP) expected to dominate. Bashir toppled Sudan's democratically elected government in an Islamist-backed coup and is Sudan's longest-serving leader since independence.
