The Voice coach, who recently pled ** contest to charges that he slipped ecstasy into a women's drink without her consent in 2012, popped up on Twitter to defend himself against fans who were criticizing him for allegedly raping the woman in question. (** rape charges were filed against Cee-Lo due to lack of evidence, but his lawyer did claim that the two has "consensual ***" (http://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/reel/cee-lo-green-enters-**-contest-plea-ecstasy-case).) According to screenshots that were snapped of Cee-Lo's tweets, the 39-year-old singer made bizarre claims about rape:
"If someone is passed out they're **t even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent. . . . When someone brakes on [sic] a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof that anyone was raped . . . Don't be dismissive **w engage me for the truth! You can't just say regardless in a court of law. So if I TRIED but did **T succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened."
After his comments drew understandable ire from his followers, Cee-Lo tweeted an apology before deleting his account entirely. He wrote:
Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context. I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you."
As part of his plea deal for his drug charge, Cee-Lo was sentenced to three years of probation plus 45 days of community service.
