It was a bold move to kill Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but we should’ve known that Episode VII wouldn’t have been the last we saw of him.
So, whether we liked it or not, it came as little surprise when Harrison Ford made a ghostly return as the heroic pilot for JJ Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker.
Explaining how the Episode IX director had managed to talk him into reprising his role as Han for the Skywalker Saga’s conclusion, Harrison Ford told Jimmy Kimmel Live that it was simply a matter of trust.
Admitting his relief when Han was killed by his own son in JJ Abrams’ first Star Wars outing, Harrison said: “His utility had been exhausted, bled out, and I was willing to die for the cause. No good deed goes unpunished.”

The actor then recalled his conversation with JJ as filming for The Rise of Skywalker got under way. “JJ said, ‘This is a good idea. I, JJ, have decided that this a good idea. And I would like you to do it,'” he revealed.
“And you trust him enough that when he says something like that, you’re on board?” Jimmy replied, to which Harrison simply answered: “Don’t you?”

Unfortunately for us, the chances of seeing Han once again are slim-to-none, with Disney boss Bob Iger recently confirming that any future Star Wars movie that may have been in the works is now officially on “hiatus”.
“The priority [for the franchise] in the next few years is television,” he added, suggesting there’ll be many years yet before we get to see another big-screen trilogy.
