Note: This article contains a major spoiler for A Quiet Place.

Despite being violently mauled to death in the first one, John Krasinski will be returning for more alien fun in A Quiet Place 2.

And no, he won’t be inexplicably resurrected or plucked from the past with a time machine. Instead, his character Lee Abbott will appear via flashbacks, revealing how the whole apocalyptic scenario started.

Speaking on Ellen about his return for the sequel, he said: “I wasn’t going to do a second one, because the first one was such a personal experience. It was my love letter to my kids.

“But it was really important for me to continue the metaphor, and actually start dealing with how this all started. There’s a little bit in the movie where you see how it all started.”

So probably don’t expect to see too much of the actor-director, but at least rest easy in the knowledge that he can’t be killed again.

The sequel will pick up almost immediately after the first film, with Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt) and the kids venturing beyond the safety of the sand path.

However, they’ll soon discover that sound-triggered aliens aren’t the only threat in the outside world.

A Quiet Place is currently available to watch right now on Amazon Prime Video, with the sequel scheduled to hit cinemas on March 20, 2020.
