Do you remember the absolute classic single ‘Thong Song’, a smash hit of 2000 by the singer SisQأ³? If you that one passed you by, don’t worry, we’ve linked it below so you don’t miss out.
Whether you remember him for his smooth rhymes and silky dance moves or not, it turns out that the singer for the multi-platinum band Dru Hill isn’t just a fan of skimpy underwear – SisQأ³’s pretty keen on video games, too. So much so that he’s decided to back The Wonderful 101: Remastered on Kickstarter.
The story goes like this. A Kickstarter backer going by the name of Ryu29 was spotted in the comments by USGamer, stating that it was the first Kickstarter he’d ever donated to and that The Wonderful 101 on the Wii U was a favourite.
“I wanted The Wonderful 101 on my Switch because I travel a lot for the touring I do,” SisQأ³ subsequently told USGamer, in a phone call to confirm that he was, indeed, Ryu29. “Given the fact that the Switch has the hybrid capability, the fact that it’s got the touch screen, The Wonderful 101 would be a really cool port!”
But not content with heaping praise on the original game, SisQأ³ also mentioned that he hoped there would be some way he would be able to make an appearance in the forthcoming remaster, which at the time of writing has surpassed آ£1.1 million(!) of crowdfunding on Kickstarter, with 25 days to go. He apparently told his staff he wanted to reach out to the game’s developers PlatinumGames, but as none of them seemed to know what he was talking about, he took to the campaign’s comments.

I’m trying to explain to them that I want to reach out to PlatinumGames, doing my best to explain to them what the premise is all through text because everybody’s working on other stuff. Nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. So, I go to the comments.”<span/>
SisQأ³ also talks to US Gamer about other games that he’d like to be a part of, including Street Fighter and the Grand Theft Auto series, though he’s already kinda conquered the latter with his band, Dru Hill – one of their number-one singles, ‘In My Bed’, appeared on Grand Theft Auto IV‘s soundtrack, specifically on the Vibe 98.8 in-game radio station.
Like we said before, it seems that SisQأ³ isn’t the only one eager to see a remaster of The Wonderful 101. With nearly 24,000 backers so far, committing to a total approaching آ£1.2 million, the remaster project is already one of the biggest video game campaigns on the crowdfunding platform. And that’s an especially impressive feat, given it’s only been live a week. That said, it’s got nothing on Shenmue III, which smashed its $2 million funding target in under 24 hours on Kickstarter, went on to raise $6.3m (a platform record), and finally came out late last year.
