KARACHI: On a tip off by a provincial minister, Sindh’s provincial anti-corruption watchdog arrested director of Sindh Education Department on corruption charge.
Sindh Minister Sohail Anwar Sial informed the Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment regarding the alleged involvement of Director Human Resource of Sindh Schools Education, who was demanding and collecting Rs200 million in the name of the same minister for regularisation of contractual services of IBA-passed 950 teachers (Rs1 lac to 5 lac from each teacher).
Deputy Director East Zone, Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment, Karachi, Zameer Abbasi, told The News that on the information passed on by Sohail Anwar Sial, Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh, Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) East Zone, rounded up Muhammad Hussain Soomro, Director Human Resource Schools Education Sindh, for allegedly taking bribe from 950 contractual IBA-passed teachers in the name of Minister Anti-Corruption for regularisation of their services.DD Abbasi added that in this regard, telegraphic and cellular information has been traced and seized and then consequently Soomro was booked in the case after lodging of the First Information Report (FIR) at the Police Station, New Town, on the complaint of ACE.
