LAHORE: Several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, are in the grip of fog.
The limit of visibility at National Highways is 50 meters and Motorways M 3 and 4 were closed during early hours on Sunday. Motorway Police have issued advisory to the public to avoid unnecessary travel and if unavoidable, the drivers should use fog lights while driving. Dense fog prevailed in most plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during the night and morning hours on Sunday resulting in poor visibility. In Multan flights were diverted to Islamabad due to thick fog, local media reported.
Many cities of Sindh are also in the grip of heavy fog and one person has been killed and eaight injured in various traffic incidents. In Pattoki a trawler trampled a motorcyclist. In Vehari eight persons were injured in a pile-up of five vehicles.
In another traffic mishap two buses and an oil tanker were collided near Dunyapur in a fog related incident.
Nine people including two women were injured in the mishap and they were transferred to nearby hospital, rescue officials said.
In another traffic accident a bus and a trailer were crashed at Sadiqabad Bypass due to misty conditions.
Seven people were injured in the incident in which the front portion of the bus thoroughly damaged. Two injured were taken out of the vehicle after cutting the body of the vehicle.
Earlier in the night at least nine people suffered injuries after five vehicles jumbled in a road crash at Chichawatni Road due to intense fog.
The visibility range goes down in Lahore, Cheechawatani, Patoki, Mian Channu, Okara, Sahiwal and Harappa due to dense fog. The Khanewal-Multan section of the Motorway has been closed due to intense misty conditions.The visibility level also goes down on the National Highway along Basti Malook, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad.
