ISLAMABAD: A magnitude 6.4 quake jolted several parts of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), no loss of life or property was reported in the quake that struck at around 4:40pm.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicenter of the quake was Koh-e-Hindukush in Afghanistan. Its depth was measured 210 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib, Kamoke, Muzaffarabad, Bannu, Azad Kashmir, Murree, Chitral, Sargodha, Malakand, Hafizabad, Para Chinar, Jhelum, Bajaur, Shab Qadar, Faisalabad and several other cities of the Punjab and KP.
As per Indian media reports, tremors were also felt in the New Delhi.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 6.1 magnitude quake had struck the region including Afghanistan.People reciting Quranic verses ran out of their houses and offices in a state of fear and panic.
