LONDON: Three men were knifed to death in separate attacks in London within hours of each other on Thursday.
A 35-year-old man died after he was attacked inside a house in Hounslow, west London. Officers from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service attended, after being called shortly after 11.30am. The man, who has been named as Ebrima “Brim” Cham, died at the scene half an hour later.
Police believe that three men forced their way in to the property on Grove Road to attack Mr Cham in a targeted incident. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, but is not thought to be one of the three suspects who forced their way in to the house.
Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh said: “This was clearly a targeted attack and we are very keen to understand more about what was going on in Brim’s life.”
Two other fatal stabbings took place in the capital on Thursday. At 7.16pm officers were called to Bromley Road in Walthamstow following reports of two men suffering from stab injuries.
One man, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second, also thought to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Just over an hour later, a man in his 30s died after being attacked near Scratchwood Park in Barnet, north London, at about 8.30pm. He was found in a car and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man, in his 20s, suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital. The deaths take the number of homicide investigations launched by the Metropolitan Police this year to 139, including Boluwatife Oyewunmi, who was shot in 2017 but died this year. The force recorded 135 homicides in 2018, while the Home Office recorded 141 homicides in the capital including those in the City of London Police force area.
