Student killed, 31 hurt in two groups? varsity clash

ISLAMABAD: A student was killed while 31 wounded in gun battle between two rival ethnic and religious groups in a university in Islamabad Thursday night during a three-day concluding ceremony, police said.Both the groups used firearms during the clash, police said and added that Mohammad Tufail was shot dead while over 31 students sustained bullet injuries who were later shifted to PIMS hospital.DIG (Operations) and deputy commissioner reached the scene with heavy contingent of police and Rangers and controlled the situation. The police cordoned off the area and arrested various people from both sides involved in the clash. The police registered FIR against the miscreants.DC Islamabad told the media people that Rangers have been deployed in and around the university to maintain peace.
