When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1994 silicone implants were not an option. Because of some shoddy surgical methods that caused adverse reactions, and even rejection by women's bodies of implants made from silicone, they were pulled off the market for many years. Additionally, the tram-flap and latissimus dorsi-flap surgeries had not yet been introduced.
