ISLAMABAD: The envoys of different countries belonging to Central Asian Republics (CARs), Europe, Africa and South Asia on Friday stressed upon the need for exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan and stated that agriculture, oil and gas, minerals, textile and other sectors could become potential areas for promoting trade and investments.This was the crux of speeches delivered by envoys of different countries during the International Investment Conference organised by the Jang Media Group in collaboration with Center for Global Strategic Studies (CGSS) here at the Pak-China Friendship Center on Friday.Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Ali Nawaz Awan said on the occasion that Pakistan was open for attracting investment and tourism could be major potential area for luring huge investors.He said that all embassies of Pakistan at different destinations of the world would be assigned targets to draw attention of the world towards unseen beautiful places located in this part of the world.He said that they were bringing changes in the Master Plan for Islamabad. The aviation policy, he said, would also be overhauled.He said that they were bringing changes in bylaws of CDA for attracting more investments. He said that they conducted a survey to ask question from different people and found that over 90 percent wanted to have their house in the federal capital if they already possessed a house in any other part of the country. In order to cater to such huge demand, he said, the government would offer investments.On the occasion, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Movlamov Atadjan Nurlyevich, who is also Dean of Diplomatic Corps, said that Tapi project would connect the region for providing gas but it would also help achieving understanding and peace in the region.He said that the investment opportunities also existed in Turkmenistan as well and both the countries could explore cooperation in areas of agriculture, oil and gas and other sectors of the economy.Poland’s Ambassador Pitor A Opalinski said that Poland is the sixth largest economy of Europe having GDP size of 470 billion Euro and growth rate of 5 percent which is located in the center of Europe. “We are strong supporter and advocate for GSP Plus for Pakistan,” he said and added that Poland was the gateway for Pakistani products to all Europe and other countries.He said that trade volume stood at $540 million in 2018 and 2/3 was in the shape of Pakistan’s exports of products including textile, leather, surgical and sports goods, adding that they were making efforts to diversify exports.He said that Polish oil and gas companies were working in Pakistan and they were tripling their investment in the country. Pakistan, he said, became important for us just like Norway. He said that Poland’s company made Halal nail polish with special features. He said that Pakistanis introduced cricket in Poland.Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Furqat Sidikov said that around 200 Pakistani companies were operating in his country and it was estimated that the bilateral trade was going up by three times and possessed potential to touch $300 to $500 million in years to come.He said that they established trilateral commission and currently exploring ways and means to establish rail contactsfrom Tashkant to Mazar Sharif and Peshawar through mass corridor.He extended his special thanks to PM Imran Khan who opted open visa policy with inclusion of Uzbekistan into this list that had opened the door of promoting tourism. He said that Agriculture factory in Pakistan would help to achieve productivity and efficiency for agriculture sector in Pakistan.Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Ali Alizade said that security situation improved in Pakistan and economic turnaround also achieved. He said that new cooperation field was energy and they were establishing working groups to promote ties for trade and agriculture sectors. He said that both the countries could kick-start airline connectivity as they have 42000 visitors and air connectivity could be established.Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Barlybay Sadykov said that vast opportunities existed to promote bilateral trade and investment in areas of agriculture, raw material and tourism could also be promoted.Mauritius’s High Commissioner Rashidally Soobadar said that there was need to explore Africa as there were projections that 2 billion population would be residing in Africa in decades to come that would be more than China and India.Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner Noordeen Mohamed Shahied said that 72 percent population of his country belonged to Bhuddism and his countrymen would love to visit Pakistani sites located at Taxila, Takht Bhai and others. He said that CPEC provided opportunity to the regional states and Gawadar provided shortest link to China and CARs as well as to Sri Lanka with other parts of the world.Editor The News Aamir Ghauri said on the occasion that Jang Media Group with its largest circulated newspapers and most watched Geo TV network both inside Pakistan and other countries could play role of bridge between international investors and vast majority of Pakistanis living in different parts of the world.Advisor to CGSS Advocate Zaildar Ahsan Shah said that there was need to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan and this conference was arranged to lure potential investors to explore suitable opportunities.
