LONDON: The International Lawyers Club-UK (ILCUK) held its annual election for the term 2019-2020 in which Khalid Anjum was elected as Chairman and Imran Pervaiz as General Secretary of the ILCUK, said a statement issued on Monday.The voter turnout was 91 per cent, as some voters were out of the country and could not cast their votes. A significant number of lawyers participated in the election process enthusiastically. It was the first ever election for executive posts of any lawyers organisation of Asian origin in the UK.Anjum secured 51 per cent votes for the slot of chairman against his rival Mohsin Malik who obtained 49 per cent votes. Pervaiz secured 68 per cent votes for the post of general secretary against Shahzad Ahmad who got 32 per cent votes. Sitting Chairman ILCUK Mirza Safdar Iqbal congratulated the newly-elected chairman and general secretary and described the significance of the participation of general members in the electoral process. They were also greeted by founder Chairman Rizwan Sulehria, and former chairmen Shafaqat Sandhu and Moazzam Sandhu.Speaking on the occasion, both the newly elected chairman and general secretary promised to do their best for the larger interest of the club.
