By News DeskISLAMABAD: Hurriyat forum Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said seeking the resolution of the Kashmir dispute is not a crime.“The Hurriyat leadership has always taken a realistic and principled stance and advocated dialogue among stakeholders to find an acceptable solution for all parties involved in the dispute and for friendship between India and Pakistan,” the Mirwaiz said while addressing a gathering in held Srinagar on Saturday.According to the Kashmir Media Service, he said his late father, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, was a great advocate of good relations between Pakistan and India and peace in the region. The Mirwaiz said: “When we welcomed and participated in the talks with New Delhi and Islamabad — we demonstrated our eagerness and faith in the institution of dialogue as a means for resolution of the dispute understanding fully that people of Kashmir are the most affected party in the dispute.“We have and will continue to advocate and push for dialogue as it is the way forward as Kashmiris are most at receiving end of the lingering dispute and almost every day being killed in one form or the other.”His speech came as Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in Islamabad and Shopian districts. The troops laid a siege around Tangpawa village in Kokernag area of held Kashmir’s Islamabad district and launched searches.The troops also cordoned off the Ganai neighbourhood in the Turkwangam area of Shopian and began a door-to-door search operation. The operations in these areas were ongoing as the last reports came in.Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has called on New Delhi to “read the writing on the wall” that Kashmiris will not compromise on their rights. According to the Kashmir Media Service, a JKLF spokesman issued a statement in held Srinagar, saying: “India has set new heights of state terrorism against the people of Kashmir, who in pursuance of just freedom movement, are being targeted by the Indian forces’ personnel.” He strongly denounced the ongoing killing spree in the occupied territory and appealed to the international community to “rescue the Kashmiris” and help in the resolution of the “lingering Kashmir dispute”. He said the people of Kashmir would continue their liberation movement until it reached its logical conclusion.In Brussels, JKLF Europe chapter’s general secretary, Masood Iqbal Mir, strongly denounced the banning of political organisations, including the JKLF, in occupied Kashmir by the Indian government. He said innocent civilians, including children, were being targeted by Indian troops in Kashmir.
