By News DeskISLAMABAD: Hurriyat leaders and organisations strongly denounced the Indian government’s ban on Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), led by Muhammad Yasin Malik, as Indian occupied Kashmir saw a complete shutdown in protest of the move on Sunday.According to the Kashmir Media Service, the call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. All shops and other business establishments were closed across the disputed valley while traffic was nowhere to be seen. Indian police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength to foil anti-India protests. Malik is presently lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu under the draconian Public Safety Act.Hurriyat Forum Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued a statement in Srinagar, saying: “Such anti-Kashmir tactics will neither change the reality of Kashmir dispute nor the urgency to resolve it.”The spokesperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Rifat Fatima, said in a statement: “Such repressive tactics have failed in the past and are bound to fail now as well”. She said New Delhi was trying to stifle every voice of dissent in Kashmir, adding, such voices were either crushed or jailed.“The world, however, is aware of the fact that the Indian government is using its military might against the religious and political organisations in Kashmir with a sole aim to crush this pious and legal movement,” she added.The High Court Bar Association of held Kashmir termed the material relied upon for declaring JKLF as an unlawful association, farfetched and imaginary and also contrary to the well-established principles of freedom of speech and expression and association.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/W8rXB6psgas
