8 Pak martyrs buried in Christchurch

ISLAMABAD: Eight Pakistanis who were martyred in the New Zealand terror attack have been laid to rest in a graveyard in Christchurch as per Islamic rituals.More than 20 family members — who flew from Pakistan, facilitated by the Foreign Office and New Zealand’s government — were able to join the rituals, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a tweet on Friday.He said the funeral was attended by more than 5,000 people, of whom there were about 1,500 Muslims who came from all over New Zealand. He said the body of Syed Areeb Ahmed would be repatriated to Pakistan in next few days and the family was being kept informed. “Pakistan’s high commissioner and the high commission staff remain in Christchurch to continue assistance to the bereaved families,” he added.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/Nr1hJAePXoI
