New spell of rains forecast

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast widespread rains in the country and high alert was issued by NDMA in Balochistan. Widespread rains are expected in Balochistan, Sindh and other parts of the country including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, for Sunday and tomorrow (Monday) amid flood and landslide warning. According to a spokesman for the PMD, the rainy spell will be caused by a westerly wave, which is likely to enter Balochistan early Sunday before gripping parts of the country. Under its influence, widespread rains accompanied by thunderstorm and snowfalls over the hills with a few moderate to isolated heavy rainfall coupled with gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Sunday to Monday.
