ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed Tuesday that there were approximately 2,800 Pakistani nationals imprisoned in various jails of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in November 2018 on both minor and major offenses.During the question hour, the minister told in a written reply that the updated complete details of the prisoners were awaited from the concerned authorities.He also noted that on the basis of interviews conducted by the community welfare attache and team during their regular visits to jails and their interaction with the jail authorities, it was estimated that presently, there were about 2,409 Pakistani nationals jailed in the UAE.He noted that of these, 94 were females while 572 had been convicted and 302 were facing trials.Replying to a question by Senator Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini of BNP-Mengal, Health Minister Amir Mehmood Kiani said that the percentage of Pakistan population suffering from mental illness was 11.2 percent and depression was the major cause of mental health illness in Pakistan while prevalence of depression according to global Burden of Disease Estimates 2017 was 2.72 percent.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/u1P1jXCPC0c
