ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Tuesday said a massive crackdown on the menace of terrorism was being initiated.Talking to journalists here, the minister pointed out that the National Security Committee had already made political, economic and administrative plans to crack down against extremism in Pakistan. He noted that work on these plans was in different phases. The minister said that Pakistan’s stature had improved greatly globally due to its mature response with regards to the recent standoff with India. He claimed the international media had appreciated Pakistan's mature response while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and their media had become a laughing stock in the world, thanks to their warmongering. He explained that even sane elements in India were criticising Modi for putting the lives of billions of people of the sub-continent at stake for his own political interests. However, he believed the tension between the two countries had decreased during past few days and the credit for which went to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Armed Forces, the Parliament and the entire political leadership of the country. “The entire nation showed maturity while Prime Minister Imran Khan adopted a principled stance and all the friendly countries supported Pakistan’s viewpoint,” he maintained.Fawad said the National Security Committee had announced in January the steps for devising an administrative and economic plan to curb extremism in the country and the ongoing action against banned organisations was in its continuation. The minister contended Pakistan had revised its visa policy, by announcing visa at entry facility for nationals of 70 countries to promote tourism, which would ultimately contribute to the national economy. “Tourism is the backbone of our economy. We want people coming from different countries to know how united we are as a country,” the minister said. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, he explained, was focused on boosting trade and steering the country out of the economic crisis. Replying to questions, Fawad urged all the citizens to pay due respect to the minorities.About the recent ‘remarks’ made by Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz Chohan against the Hindu community in Pakistan, Fawad emphasised that every citizen should give due respect to the minorities. “We must give the white part of our national flag due consideration,” he said.Fawad was appreciative of the Pakistani media’s handling the tensions between India and Pakistan diligently, whereas the Indian media was being ridiculed the world over. The minister noted that the way entire Pakistan reacted to the crisis, unleashed by India gave an impression to the world that Pakistan was a mature nation. He added the measures taken by Pakistan in the wake of the tension had saved the world from a big disaster.APP adds: Meanwhile, talking to Indian media, the minister for information and broadcasting said the action launched against proscribed organisations in the country was not the result of any duress, but in pursuance of decisions taken in National Action Plan (NAP) and National Security Committee meetings. He said Pakistan wanted lasting peace in the region and was determined to fulfill its international obligations. The whole world was witnessing that who is striving for peace and who is igniting jingoism, he added.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/vOx3Hzd5EvM
