Fans of the 1992 romantic comedy â??Boomerangâ?* who are looking to see the original filmâ??s cast appear on BETâ??s upcoming sequel series shouldnâ??t hold their breath.
Well, no, you might see executive producer Halle Berry reprising her role. But as far as everyone else goes?آ*Weâ??ll have to wait and see, because Berry hasnâ??t asked her former co-stars to appear on the Lena Waitheâ??s updated take on â??Boomerang.â?*
â??You might see me at some point,â?* Berry told reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour Monday, with a little laugh.

Executive produced by â??The Chiâ?* creator Lena Waithe and Halle Berry, who starred in the original film, the series will followآ*â??Everybody Hates Chrisâ?* alumآ*Tequan Richmond and his â??All Nightâ?* co-star Tetona Jackson, as the son and daughter, respectively, of the characters played by Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens in â??90s flick, as they try to step out of their parentsâ?? shadows and make a legacy of their own.
Along with Murphy, Givens and Berry, the original filmâ??s cast included David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones,آ*Geoffrey Holder,آ*Eartha Kitt,آ*Chris Rock, Tisha Campbell-Martin, and Reginald Hudlin, among many others.

Berry says she hasnâ??t spoken to anyone else from the group about coming back, telling reporters: â??Lena came to me, this was her passion, she just wasâ?? she said, â??I gotta do this and I really wanna team up with you, please.â??â?¦ And she said, â??I have to bring a modern version of this story to our people. Please do this with me.â?? So thatâ??s all I know. I didnâ??t speak to anybody else. Lena came to me with her art, her passion, and a real desire to do it and I said yes before knowing how any of my other co-stars felt about this.â?*
Waithe, who co-wrote the pilot with showrunner Ben Cory Jones, knows that â??a lot of people are definitely askingâ?* if the OG cast will return.
â??But I always tell people, â??If you wanna see Grace Jones, and Eartha [Kitt] â?? may she rest â?? and Halle and Eddie and Robin, go watch the movie,â?* she said. â??If you wanna see some fresh faces and a new take on the movie, come watch the show.â?*
