A MIDWIFE has been struck off after an aborted baby boy was born alive and clung onto life for 15 minutes.
The wriggling newborn was seen moving all four limbs when he was born at 16 weeks and four days at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent.

The midwife claimed she tried to tell a senior colleague about the signs of life but was waved away twice, the Mirror reported.
This colleague denied that any such conversation had taken place during the Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing.
Other colleagues only found out about the babyâ??s movements seven hours later at the shift handover.
WRAPPED IN INCONTINENCE PAD AFTER BIRTH
At this point the midwife informed them about the babyâ??s squirming â?? which she took to be reflex actions.
The baby, which was aborted because of severe genetic defects, was wrapped in an incontinence pad after birth.
The midwife used this to swaddle the baby boy â??because his skin was fragile and transparentâ?*.
She was reportedly â??concerned that sheets and blankets would be too roughâ?*.
The tribunal heard that the baby had no chance of survival at 16 weeks.
A panel ruled the midwife did not act dishonestly, as she genuinely believed the baby was experiencing a reflex action.
But the NMC said she failed to act immediately and tell other staff about what had happened.
