Calmer for Concentration and Excitability

I have recently had to move my horse from a quiet private yard to a busy livery yard. Generally he is settling well but I am struggling to get him to concentrate when schooling when there is a lot going on around. Obviously this will get better in time but I really need something to help him focus. In addition he is feeling extremely well and keeping his excitement at bay is a challenge, especially if the jumps come out. I'd really like to get him out to some shows but not sure I could sit to his moments. I have ordered him some acoustic ears but does anyone have a suggestion for a calmer to try to try and reduce his excitement for the meantime? Obviously we are doing as much as possible in practical terms to try and get everything to become "normal" and I have an experienced instructor who rides him but he still has these moments with her. He is turned out overnight and just has some soaked hay in the day. No hard feed and he has a mild shiver so have to keep sugar/ starch as low as poss. Ridden 5 times a week. Not terribly keen on magnesium calmers from past experience (with another horse) but open to suggestions. Pleased he is feeling so well in himself but want to enjoy riding him a bit more!
