I haven't actually posted anything for ages on here after not being able to log in properly and generally lurking about. I thought I'd try to brighten up everyone day with a positive post. I bought a little project pony in November 2017. I had just lost my previous youngster to a horrendous field accident and was certain that the next one I bought would be over 10, over 15.2 and something I could just get on and go to pony club with. The three horses we looked at were either lame, advertised wrong or had nutty owners. I was honestly just about to give up when I saw an advert for a little four year old cob mare less than 10 miles away. On viewing we realized she was probably three at the most and was not as advertised at all, but she was so very cute and I felt sorry for her, so I took a chance. A week later she came to live with me, no vetting, no passport and a very scared and shy little pony who took two hours to get on the trailer. She was passported, vaccinated, had her feet trimmed and had the dentist. She was wormed after a worm count showed a burden of 4200epg! After a winter of eating and growing, with the occasional wander about the lanes tacked up, the butterfly emerged. She is now 4 inches taller, backed, has hacked out about 8 times and had proved to be the most sensible youngster ever. Gone is the shy little scrawney cob who flinched when you went to put a headcollar on. Now we have a confident and cheeky youngster who comes to call and loves to cuddle. She loves nothing better than being around people and being part of the conversation. She loves to put her head on your shoulder and is a pleasure to be around. After not even knowing how to tie up and pick her feet up she's now happy to have a bath, have suncream on, be sprayed with fly spray and is an angel for the farrier. She's not at all what I wanted when I set out horse shopping, but somehow she's perfect :) I've put some pictures below, if anyone can make them work it would be much appreciated. I hope you all like Mary, my little diamond in the rough :) http://imgur.com/gallery/gsX81Zm
