Feeding Yea Sacc

I am currently feeding my yearling as the grass is quite poor so he gets unmolassed beet and some stud nuts as a little top up. I have been reading about yea sacc and keep wondering if I should be feeding him to keep his tummy tip top. Is this just a waste of money though when I don't have any reason to think there is a problem with his tummy?!
