Okay so I?m after some ideas. My boy has always had a few quirks about stuff on the ground. At 22 old habits die hard and I've only had him under my full care for a year. He Will jump small under saddle with lots of leg and encouragement but I want to improve this so was going back to basics and lunging him over stuff to build his confidence. He will cross a pole and take a small jump on left rein when lunging but he will NOT cross anything (even the same object) on the right rein. I don?t think it?s about flexibility as he can walk trot and canter on both reins. He WILL NOT walk over it with me or lunge over it and just plants. If you put a guiding pole down he will run out before it or just stop dead. Tried different poles, colours, objects and he?s the same with them all on one side! I wonder whether it?s his vision? He took a longtime to re-teach to load (months) and after lots of work he will now go through water. But stuff on the ground is still a bit of a sticking point - drains, changes in tarmac etc. Any strategies or new ideas appreciated! Thanks
