I feel I?m on the verge of switching vet practice because I?m fed up with my vets failure to communicate, but I want to check first whether this is normal and I?m being impatient. First off, I know vets are busy people. But in my opinion a job isn?t complete until the owner has had the results. No point doing exams / tests / x rays then keeping it to yourself. A few months ago my horse went lame. On several occasions she went to the vets practice for workup / tests etc. Vet said he?d call me. So getting to the end of the day and I?ve not heard anything. While I?d like to know what he?s found, the more pressing issue is do I need to pick my horse up? or are you keeping her in for more tests tomorrow? It would be handy to know!So usually after much chasing I get hold of him and he?s very apologetic. But it happens all over again the next time. Currently I?m waiting for the results if a Cushings test that should have been ready on tuesday. I called this morning (Friday) to chase it up and the receptionist said she?d try to ensure he calls me, but if I?ve not heard anything back by 4 then to call again. So I call again at 4. He?s not there, another vet gives me my worm egg count results (wonder how long I?d have had to wait for those if I?d not chased) but couldn?t give the cushings result as it was the other vet who put them in (I assume the result is in his inbox?)No doubt as and when I speak to him he will be apologetic but I hate feeling like I have to nag him for any results. Am I being unreasonable? Do other vets call you back when they say they will?(barring emergencies)Can?t really complain to the practice manager as he?s the owner.
